WIngs of Freedom

Simian and I went with E, HJ and their son, E, to see the Wings of Freedom Tour . It was really fun - I got to climb into the body of the B17 Bomber and walk/crouch inside. You have to wonder how people flew in these airplanes. They also had people bringing their collections of World War 2 Memorabilia. That was just as fascinating. I got to carry a few World War Two guns - and some of them were really heavy.

Afterwards, we adjourned to 5 Guys for lunch. E and HJ had never been - this was so shocking one of the volunteers at the Wings of Freedom Tour yelled in disbelief  as he walked past :)

Farm!

My cousins came to visit in Baltimore, and we took the opportunity to go visit S's family's farm. S's farm was super fun - there were animals all over the place and I even got to sit on a horse, while S led me carefully around :)

Barnacle Historic State Park

Our friend, O, took us to Barnacle Historic State Park. It was a lovely little oasis in the middle of bustling Coconut Grove. There is even a little mangrove clump along the bay.

Cuban Food

Cuban food is pretty meat-centric but we were still able to find a lot to eat. From the Guayaba (like a very sweet guava) to the many desserts, we were very well fed.

Charm City

My cousin, D and his wife, S, came to visit in Baltimore when we were there. We took them out for one packed afternoon of Charm City fun. We went to Tutti Gusti, Max's on Broadway and to Fort McHenry, a walk through Hampden and to Mount Vernon Square.  We ended the night at Brewer's Art.
Simian and I are currently addicted to the Wire and seeing familiar places like the Lion at Mount Vernon makes us all nostalgic :) I could even hear the Butcher's Hill neighbourhood ice cream truck in the background of one scene (which I am still convinced is a drug truck).

Shark Valley, Everglade National Park

Still haven't updated tons of stuff but I did want to post these photos at the year's end. Simian and I saw tons of birds at the Everglades Shark Valley that made it to our Life list - Abhingas, Great and Little Blue Herons, Back Vultures, Limpkins and Great Egrets. We didn't see any Gators because it was the wrong season for them but it was a gorgeous visit nonetheless. I expected the Everglades to be much more marshy but it turned out to be very flat land. Apparently the water level rises a lot more but it was fairly dry when we went. A gorgeous trip.
